A Piece of Panglao Island

Everyone wants the atmosphere of the beach. In WOW Philippines, I like Panglao beaches so much. I love the touch of the fine sands on my feet, it's not on the shore but on the seafloor. The water is so clear and warm. I can swim there all day long. It's priceless.That's why I always look forward to a Bohol vacation.

Hair Rebonding

I've always wanted to get a hair rebond and when I got the chance, I did. Now I'm sporting a new look that's very ideal for summer. I'm glad that my hair rebond turned out nice and my hair didn't look as if it was electrocuted. Rather, it looks more like it's my original hair. If you want a cheap hair rebond that's nice and effective, I recommend Edwin's Salon and Spa. They're the best. :)

Miniature Coke, Made in Thailand

Pinoy Merienda

Summer has arrived. Whenever the hot season is here, I miss Pinoy snack or merienda.It must be the heat or the memories these yummy treats bring that elicit nostalgia in me.Whatever the reason may be, it makes me glad to be Pinoy. Over the years, our inherent passion for food has gone a long way. This is something that we can be proud of, too.I just hope that despite the continuous pursuit of higher education of our Pinoy chefs, they won't forget how to make Pinoy dishes, especially our varied types of Pinoy merienda.

My first summer adventure (Island Cove) gave me a chance to sample several types of Pinoy merienda that really made me stuffed and satisfied (photo above, clockwise: turon, puto bumbong, pancit palabok and bibingka). I hope to eat more of this food that makes me feel at home wherever I may be. :)

Full and Bright Moon

Tonight, the moon was full and bright. I saw it while walking on the way home from the fine dining restaurant where I work part-time. I wanted to capture that moment so I took a photo of the moon in its glistening glory. I used the blossoming branches of a tree as back drop to the moon and the image above was the result. I used my camera phone in taking the photo and the zoom was really bad. (I like the blurry effect, though.) I should've brought my new DSLR. Well, better luck next time. :)

Baby Back Ribs...I Want!

Peñaranda, Nueva Ecija

Peñaranda is a small town in the province of Nueva Ecija. This is where I grew up. This is my native town. I hope I can regularly pay a visit to this place. The last time I went there was November of last year. I was with my Superfriend Nice. If there is a landmark that differentiates a town from another, then it could be the above irrigation system for my native town of Peñaranda. :)

There's a Rainbow Above the Sea

Edwin, Albie and I were riding a ship going back to Cebu City from Bohol when I captured this moment. I loved rainbows as a child. That's the reason why I instantly become reminiscent of my childhood whenever I see rainbows (I seldom do!). If I'm not mistaken, it is said in the bible that rainbows are a sign from God that He will never destroy the earth again through flood (Noah's time).

A Reunion

This picture can paint a thousand words...or so I see it that way. It's me with two of the most important persons in my life: my Superfriend and my best friend. It was one gloomy day in November when the reunion happened. I was the happiest that day. It was a great feeling to actually have these two special people meet each other for the first time. Leah (my best friend) and I became best of friends during my high school days while Nice (my Superfriend) and I have been superfriends since college. I love them both to the bones. :)

Manghihilot or hilot is our local version of masseuse. The mushrooming of spa salons and massage centers in the metro has gradually changed the way people view massage. On our recent trip to Bohol, we went to Bohol Bee Farm and once again, I encountered the word "hilot."

My Leopard

As you can see, it's not a new pet but a pair of shoes. It's my most favorite pair of shoes these days. I got it from SM Department Store for P199. It's on sale that time. I saw it before when it was still P399. I didn't buy it outright and waited for the price to go down. And it did! I love the color (pink) of the shoes because it gives a stark contrast to reality. We all know there is no such thing as a pink leopard. Or is there? :)

My Long-Time Online Buddy

Meet Mei, my long-time online buddy. I've known her since my Blogdrive days (about three years ago). She's smart, very friendly and has a cheerful disposition. I guess these are the things that gravitate people toward her. Last Wednesday, I got the chance to meet her personally. She has a writing project and got me as one of her writers. I needed to get some books from her so I could start with my part-time job (my second, actually). I hope I don't dissapoint her with my work. I'll do my best. :)

But I like seeing people who do like there's no tomorrow.That's why when I saw this big headset-like thing cum DJ station at the Nokia section during the Consumers Electronics Live at SMX last October 25th, I couldn't resist taking a photo.

A lot of people say music is good for the soul. I think there's some truth in it.:)

Pantene 3-Minute Miracle Treatment

When was the last time I went to the salon? I can't remember exactly. Must be months. Last Friday, I received a sweet surprise when I had a free treatment from Pantene during their bash for bloggers at Taste Asia, Mall of Asia. They actually used their new product, Pantene 3-Minute Miracle Treatment. It's supposed to treat hair from damages accumulated in the past. I say it's effective as my hair went from dry and dull to lively and shiny. It smells good, too.

A New Twist to Wendy's Frosty

Almost every night after my duty at LCDTM, Edwin and I would head to Wendy's-Nagtahan Branch to buy Frosty. It's like our midnight snack which is oftentimes matched with burgers and fries and sans drinks. Yes, we're weird like that. Lol. I usually don't settle for the super value Frosty priced at P32, instead I go for the large one (P59). The other night, while enjoying a serving of large Frosty at Wendy's (same store), an idea popped into my mind. I remembered I had a small pack of choco flakes in my bag and thought of giving my large Frosty a twist. What I did was I sprinkled the choco flakes on my Frosty and mixed it lightly. The result was awesome (see photo above). I liked the creaminess of Frosty and the crunchiness of the choco flakes creating harmony in my mouth. It was heaven for my sense of taste. Try it to believe it. :)

Skate Board

I don't skate but seeing boys in the neighborhood skating and having fun makes me smile. Skating is a daring and tricky sport. You have to learn it well to be able to play it safely. By that, I mean no bruises or major injuries. Last Saturday, Superfriend and I got invited to the first ever skating event in Manila dubbed as "Push Don't Pollute" organized by Aloha Board Sports. It was fun and exciting though we were just there as observers (unofficially part of the media that covered the event). You can read more about the event and our experience HERE.

Baby-G

I know the brand but I never thought I would own one someday. It happened earlier than I imagined. Yes, I now own one of the toughest watches ever made -- Baby-G. I say tough because it really is tough. I guess it will last me years. Edwin got this for me as birthday present (yesterday was my birthday!). I can't be more grateful. I'm not used to wearing expensive watches but I think I'll have to learn now. I have not much to say about the watch yet but we'll see, I might make a review of it one of these days. :)

My New Shades

I have always loved wearing shades especially during summer and on hot days. It does not only keep my eyes protected but also accessorize my outfit.The one I'm wearing on the photo above with my Superfriend is my newest shades which I bought at People are People-Rockwell Branch this afternoon.If I'm not mistaken, this is my most expensive shades so far at P399. Funny, noh? Normally, I buy cheap shades, those that run from P50 to P150. But things change and so does my preference. :)

I have always loved Chowking because it is the only place where I can get cheap and delicious Chinese fastfood. If there is a drink that I like best at Chowking, it's Nai-cha. I love the combination of tea, ice and milk in this beverage. That's why I always make it a point to order Nai-cha everytime I dine at Chowking. :)

Pork Sisig with Cheese and Egg

No, I'm not giving out a recipe. This is actually a dish I had last week during my recent Cebu trip. I discovered that having cheese in your pork sisig is a winner. I love the saltiness, crunchiness and creaminess of this all-time Pinoy favorite that is served everyday at Mr. A Bar and Restaurant in Busay, Cebu City.

Chinese Siomai

Chinese siomai is my favorite among dimsums. I can wolf down a plateful of siomai anytime of the day. But unlike regular siomai eaters, I don't eat them as appetizer or snack. I eat them as a meal by pairing them with rice. May they be steamed or fried, siomai never fails to make me smile when I see them. I got this serving of siomai (photo above) from Larsian-Fuente Branch, a popular grill house in Cebu City.

Normally, I get siomai from Chowking, Hen Lin, Dimsum Republic, Oi! Hong Kong Style Noodles and my new favorite Siomai House food stalls.

Philippine Taoist Temple

I'm currently in Cebu City and this is the entrance gate of one of the places we visited yesterday, the Philippine Taoist Temple. It is a place of worship for group of monks who practice Taoism as a religion. It is one of the sites here frequented by tourists. The temple is situated inside a high-end subdivision called Beverly Hills. Admission is free.

My First Pair of Havaianas Flip Flops

What makes this pair of Havaianas flip flops special is the fact that this is my first pair. Also, it is personalized because I bought it during the Make Your Own Havaianas 2008 (MYOH) Event held at the North Wing, SM City Cebu from 19 to 22 September 2008. It was me who chose everything, from the soles to the accessories. It felt so good.

Pebbles and Pebbled Floor

I'm fond of pebble stones but I particularly like them on flooring. A pebbled floor does not only look good but always has an air of elegance. I usually see this kind of flooring on the patios or porches of rich families. I took that photo above at the patio of an old ancestral home here in Manila.

Anion Panty Liners: To See is To Believe

I first heard about this panty liner brand from a friend. I googled about it recently and found some positive feedbacks. Apparently, Anion panty liners (napkins are also available) contain a high concentration of negative ions or anions that do wonders to the genital health. Not only that, they have been discovered to strengthen the immune system and therefore, help prevent the occurrence of many illnesses known to man.

To see is to believe, I always say. And so, I bought a pack of Anion panty liners recently (P300 for a pack of 30 pads) to personally know what the fuss is all about. I'll share with you my discoveries with this particular product in the coming days. Watch out for that. :)

KFC for Lunch

I'm not a big fan of KFC chicken but I eat it anyway. I swear by their macaroni salad, though. It's always a delight to have someone bring some KFC chicken for lunch. That's what exactly has happened this late morning when a good soul dropped by our office carrying a bag full of KFC lunch boxes. I can't be more thankful for the sweet surprise.

Sweet and Juicy Rambutans, Anyone?

Rambutan is one of the tropical fruits found in the Philippines and the rest of Southeast Asia. They are usually sweet and juicy and are widely available in the market when in season. This September, rambutans are already being sold in Philippine markets. In fact, I have just eaten some sweet and juicy rambutans this morning. I so love it. Presently, rambutan sell at P50 per kilo. But I'm sure the prices will go down in the coming days. Law of supply and demand, I guess.

Moon Cake

I'm not a big fan of moon cake but if it's given to me, I won't reject it, either. That was the case a while ago when two boxes of moon cake arrived in the office. Luckily, our generous boss shared them with the staff. Blessing, if you may call it that. I'm thankful, of course. Moon cake is a favorite delicacy among Chinese. It's rich and tasty. One piece is enough to make you full. When eating moon cake, I advise that you go slow so you don't choke. Lol.

Domino's Pizza

I know. This blog is fast turning into a food blog, what with the food photos I have posted the last few days. But I really can't help it, because I just simply love food. And I get easily excited at the sight of food-related promos, may it be in restaurants or in supermarkets. Just like last night when Edwin and I chanced upon an eat-all-you-can pizza promo from Domino's Pizza UN Ave. branch while passing through the road. As expected, I jumped at the idea and we both agreed to try it. I so loved their American Medley, a.k.a. beef and mushroom pizza. Part of the history was that photo above which I took as proof of the pizza madness we experienced last night. Lol.

Chicken Sopas (for the Soul)

Homemade chicken sopas is one my ultimate comfort food. I so love the warm soup as it passes through my tongue. The warmth never fails to get me homey and relax. Yesterday, I made some chicken sopas for my me and my siblings (photo above). I'm glad they liked my cooking. We enjoyed a big bowl each and felt full after. It's one of the breakfast fares that I won't get tired of cooking over and over again. Here, take a spoonful! :)

Dinner at Packo's Grill

The Belo event I attended yesterday has introduced me to a new restaurant (image above) that surprisingly offers delicious food. After the beauty talk hosted by Dr. Hayden Kho, Jr., Belo Medical Group treated us to a sumptuous dinner at Packo's Grill. Aside from the nice interiors, the restaurant attracts customers with it's free WIFI. It's no question it is always filled with diners. The restaurant is on Sgt. Esguerra St. in Quezon City.

A Burger King Treat

Rebisco Whole Wheat Crackers: My New Breakfast Companion

My mornings these days are never complete without a piece of Rebisco Whole Wheat Crackers. I'm not a big fan of biscuits or crackers but this new product from Rebsico makes me feel good inside. Must be because it's healthy stuff. It's very affordable, too. I buy a pack of 10 and it lasts me 10 days (obviously, lol).

Now, when you see me eating this and I don't notice you, it's because I am overwhelmed with it's yummy-ness. Rebisco Whole Wheat Crackers is available in all leading supermarkets and grocery stores nationwide. :)

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts: Everyone's Favorite Snack

This is my idea of a snack. Refreshing beverage and a piece of sweet and full of yummy-ness Krispy Kreme doughnut. Simply heaven!

The flavor of the Krispy Kreme doughnut in the photo is lemon cheese cake. It's soft, velvety and sweet with lemon zest. I can't wait ti'll I eat a snack like this again. Unfortunately, the nearest Krispy Kreme store from my house is the one at Robinsons Manila. :(

Goya Dark Mint, Anyone?

For a new Goyaholic like me, the picture above looks very yummy that I can eat it right then and there. Goya has recently launched three export quality chocolate products namely: Goya Dark Almonds (chocolate-coated almonds), Goya Black&White (a combination of dark and white chocolate tablets) and Goya Dark Mint (dark chocolate with mint). Among the three, I like Goya Dark Mint the most. The unique combination of dark chocolate and mint is heaven to my senses. I love the fact that after the chocolate melts in my mouth, the mint remains to soothe my palate for the next two minutes.

Goya chocolate products are locally-made and available at Mini Stop convenience stores and some leading supermarkets nationwide. Price range: Php27 to Php35.

Skin Analysis

That girl in uniform works for Ponds and she is doing skin analysis on my face. Looking on the camera is my friend Carmela. We attended a blogger event on July 4th sponsored by Ponds at Taste Asia, Mall of Asia in Pasay City. After the face exam, I learned that I have spots, blemishes and big pores spread evenly on my face. Yay, I guess it's time I take good care of my skin. :)
